Using a Leap Motion controller to explore gigapixel panoramas

September 12, 2013

Gigapixel panoramas are awesome. I shoot a lot of them. The new Leap Motion controller provides a hands free way to explore within a panorama which is even more awesome. Next up is viewing them with a Oculus Rift¬†and we’ll be living in the¬†future!

Interaction with the pano was set up using the GameWave app that lets you map the LeapMotion to keyboard commands. I couldn’t get this working reliably with the Gigapan website but I got it working with the 360Gigapixels website for the awesome new huge pano of Tokyo.

Download the GameWave config file here. And send me an updated version if you improve on it, it could definitely use some optimization.
